The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) announced on Jan. 12 that it plans to stage performances by popular recording acts Psy and 2NE1 at a cultural fusion-themed “Korea night” event for the upcoming World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

The forum, which gathers political, business, and academic leaders from around the world, is set to take place from Jan. 19 to 23 at the Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel in Davos, with the theme of “Understanding the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

The South Korean business group said it plans to use the Korean night event to show off the country’s outstanding culture industry to the rest of the world with a K-Pop “hologram concert” combining performances by Psy and 2NE1 with digital technology.

Psy previously attended last year’s World Economic Forum as a goodwill ambassador for South Korea. This year’s performance will be his first there.

Other introductions to South Korea’s culture industry are planned for the event, including programs displaying mobile app characters such as Line Friends and providing traditional Korean cuisine for foreign attendees to try.

The fifty or so South Korean attendees at this year’s forum are to include Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil, Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, FKI Chairman Huh Chang-soo, SK chairman Chey Tae-won, Hanwha executive vice president Kim Dong-kwan, KAIST president Kang Sung-mo, and Maeil Business Newspaper President Chang Dae-hwan. Around 600 global leaders will also be attending from countries around the world.
