Samsung Heavy Industries launched the world’s largest offshore oil platform, the Egina FPSO, from Geoje Shipyard on Oct. 31. The 60,000 ton platform facility will be based 200 km off the coast of Nigeria, and has a storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels.

The contract for the offshore project, which Samsung agreed to with the Nigerian government in 2013 for the sum of US$3 billion, is a turnkey project that involves design, production, procurement, and operation. (provided by Samsung Heavy Industries)
