For two consecutive days, Asiana Airlines has failed to provide in-flight meals for passengers on 36 flights while 51 flights have been delayed for over one hour. The reason for the meal shortage is a change in suppliers. For the past 15 years, Asiana’s in-flight meals have been provided by LSG Sky Chefs Korea, but when the contract terminated, Asiana entered a new contract with a much smaller supplier, Sharp DO & CO, which began on July 1. One Asiana flight attendant said the new supplier has gone from taking 3,000 orders in one day to 30,000, and said the situation is likely to continue for the time being.
