Chinese smartphone companies are attempting to pierce through the South Korean market with claims that their products provide more bang for the buck. The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi launched its Redmi Note in Korea on July 16 at a price that’s less than 300,000 won (US$266.72). Huawei, the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer after Samsung and Apple, is planning on launching its Nova Lite 2 next month at a price that’s less than 200,000 won (US$177.78). In contrast, Samsung launched its Galaxy A8 model in January at a starting price of 599,500 won (US$532.90), although the A8 is considered a cheaper model within the Samsung product line.
