The city of Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, Korea Western Power Co. and the Ansan Citizens’ Solar Energy Cooperative signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Sept. 4 to construct the world’s largest floating solar power plant (102.5MW). Expected to be finished in 2020, the power plant will be constructed on Sihwa Lake and should generate enough energy to power 35,000 households. A portion of profits from electricity revenue will be redirected into the local community. (Cho Kye-wan, staff reporter)
