As an increasing number of drivers opt for electric vehicles, convenience stores, supermarkets and other industries are starting to install charging stations at their branches. GS Retail announced on Dec. 18 that it plans on increasing the number of charging stations at its GS25 convenience stores and GS Supermarket branches from the current 42 to 500 by 2025, 100 of which it plans on installing by the end of 2019. In a similar effort, BGF Retail has signed an agreement with the traffic solutions firm Straffic to upgrade its charging station network at its CU convenience stores. The South Korean Ministry of Environment has projected that 46,968 electric cars were purchased by Korean drivers from 2011 to September this year, and over 30,000 were from 2018 alone.
