Bitcoin prices have reached their highest level in over a year, surpassing 15 million won (US$12,957) on June 26. Other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and Ripple are also rising once again. Bitcoin’s price on the global market is also on an upward trend. According to CoinDesk, a blockchain news site, bitcoin is currently trading at US$12,964, an increase of over 200% compared to the beginning of the year. Analysts are pointing to the US Federal Reserve’s lowered interest rates and quantitative easing as the potential cause for a weakening US dollar and a rise in prices for bitcoin and gold.
