Samsung Electronics is once again expected to secure a de facto monopoly over the memory semiconductor industry. According to IHS Markit, Samsung is expected to occupy 47% of the dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) market for the third quarter of 2019, compared to 40% in the fourth quarter of 2018. SK Hynix, on the other hand, recorded a market share of 30% for the first quarter of 2019, but is expected to fall to 27% for the third quarter.
