As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to drag on and constricts the tourism industry, the duty free branches of Shinsegae, Lotte and The Shilla are moving to sell their inventory to domestic customers. The South Korean government has approved the temporary sales of duty-free items to domestic consumers to alleviate the financial setbacks seen by duty free shops. Lotte has announced that they will begin online and in-store sales of their duty free items on June 23, with savings of up to 60% on overseas luxury brands. The Shilla will sell duty free items on its own online platform, Shilla Trip, with savings of between 30 and 50%. Shinsegae, which had already begun selling duty free items on June 3, started selling additional items on its online platform S.I. Village on June 22.
