Samsung Electronics has outlined its vision for 6G telecommunications technology, with the objective of commercializing it by 2028. On July 14, Samsung released its white paper titled “The Next Hyper-Connected Experience for All,” in which it laid out a vision of future technology that includes holographic displays, digital replicas, and truly immersive extended reality (XR). “While 5G commercialization is still in its initial stage, it’s never too early to start preparing for 6G because it typically takes around 10 years from the start of research to commercialization of a new generation of communications technology,” said Choi Sung-hyun Choi, head of Samsung’s Advanced Communications Research Center, which was founded last year specifically to develop 6G technology.
