Hyundai Motor has exported hydrogen vehicles to the Middle East for the first time. On Sept. 27, the South Korean automaker shipped two Nexo hydrogen fuel-cell crossover SUVs and two hydrogen-powered Elec City buses from the Port of Ulsan to Saudi Arabia. The shipments are headed toward the energy company Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer. This marks the company’s first hydrogen vehicle export to the Middle East as well as its first ever export of the Elec City bus. In June, Hyundai and Saudi Aramco signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to form a partnership on hydrogen vehicles and explore uses of advanced non-metallic materials. Hyundai plans to conduct trial runs of its Elec City buses later this year. (by Lee Jae-yeon, photo offered by Hyundai Motor)
