The GX OLED 4K TV by LG Electronics was selected by Time Magazine as one the year’s greatest inventions.

On Nov. 22, the news magazine included the LG product, which it described as “a (really) flat-screen TV,” in the entertainment category of The Best Inventions of 2020.

The GX OLED 4K TV’s “screen uses self-lit pixels instead of a standard LED backlight, creating brighter colors and deeper contrasts along with [. . .] sharp 4K detail,” Time said in the article.

The TV’s thickness amounts to less than two centimeters for a 65-inch screen. Included within that amount are the screen, the driver, the speakers, and wall-mounting components — meaning the entire TV can be placed against the wall without any need for external equipment.

Another OLED TV by LG Electronics was selected last year by Time as an invention of the year. In 2019, the OLED 8K was selected the “TV of the future” by Time as the world’s first 8K television, or one with roughly 8,000 horizontal pixels.
