Those visiting the Gyeongbok Palace in central Seoul on Wednesday morning were greeted with a reenactment of a typical palace stroll by a Joseon-era royal family.

This stroll, in which some 40 reenactors take on roles as king, queen and guards of yore, was organized to give visitors a glimpse into what palace life was like during the Joseon Dynasty.

Departing from the king’s quarters, known as Gangnyeongjeon Hall, the procession winds through the yard behind Geunjeongjeon Hall and past Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, then returns to Geunjeongjeon Hall and reaches its end at Donggungjeon Hall.

With this year’s event taking place in winter, a variety of traditional cold-weather attire can be seen, including ieom winter hats donned by the king and queen.

Visitors will be able to take photos with the reenactors.

Reenactments will take place twice a day, at 11 am and 3 pm, running roughly 50 minutes each, until Dec. 24.
