North Korea wins FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship

North Korean women's football team won the FIFA U-20 World Championship with a 5-0 drubbing of China on Sunday.

Kim Song-hui achieved a hat trick to power North Korea to its first world soccer championship ever.

"We are a small country, but we have a good team and this should show the people around the world that they shouldn't forget about us," Kim told reporters after the finals at Moscow's Lokomotiv stadium .

Kim scored five goals overall in the championship, earning "Silver Shoe" awarded by the world's soccer governing body, FIFA.

Chinese striker Ma Xiaosu won "Gold Shoe" with five goals and two assists.

North Korean coach Choe Kwang-sok thanked his country's leader, Kim Jong-il, for making the victory possible, saying "I'm overjoyed we've been able to fulfill the expectations of our government and our fans back home."

The match was played under driving rain. About 300 North Korean supporters were jubilant, shouting, "we are the great power."
