Cursing Granny’s castigation

Grand National Party presidential candidate Lee Myung-bak is facing criticism for a recent television advertisement in which he visits a hole-in-the-wall restaurant where the owner, Cursing Granny, tells Lee to “stop fighting with all them politicians ’n fix the economy.”

It turns out that the woman in question runs a street food stall in Seoul’s Gangnam neighborhood, located south of the Han River, that does relatively good business. She has reportedly said that when approached about making the television advertisement, she was not told that it would be for Lee nor that she would have to travel to a restaurant north of the Han River that is not hers to shoot it.

Here, Cursing Granny chides Lee for making her come “all the way up here” to a different part of Seoul. “It may be advertising, but stop making stuff up all the time.”
