A child helps to move the U.S. Forces Korea back to the United States at an event held to promote the signing of a peace treaty for the Korean Peninsula on July 27, the day the Korean War was brought to an end in 1953 with the signing of an armistice between the United States and North Korea.

The event was held by the civic group Solidarity for Peace and Reunification of Korea to urge South and North Korea to replace their truce with a peace treaty. The organization said, “The peace treaty is essential for establishment of a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula and reunification of South and North Korea.”

The day was also marked by a parade of 80 taxis that drove from Yeouido to Imjingak, which is located near the demilitarized zone, or DMZ. The parade was organized by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions.
