Buckwheat blooms where strong winds blow
People parade through a wide field of buckwheat flowering in its full glory in Bongpyeong, Pyeongchang County, Gwangwon Province, on Sept. 3.

Many people are in the area this weekend for the 12th Hyo-seok Cultural Festival, which celebrates the life of renowned Korean writer Lee Hyo-seok.

Lee¡¯s short story ¡°The Buckwheat Season¡± has appeared in numerous Korean literature anthologies.

The festival began yesterday and continues through Sept. 12 at Hyosek Cultural Village in Pyeongchang.
