Korean Metal Workers’ Union (KMWU) Busan Yangsan branch head Mun Cheol-sang and KMWU Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction chapter head Chae Gil-yong stage a sit-in demonstration at a 47-meter-high tower crane, Hanjin’s Yeongdo Shipyard. This crane is some 150 meters away from Crane No. 85 where Kim Jin-suk, Member of Direction Committee, Busan Office, Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, launched a protest on Jan. 16 through engaging in a sit-in amid subzero temperatures.

HHIC chapter members also held a rally on the ground rejecting the company management’s order to move out. They have decided to continue struggle for survival against the management’s lockout on Monday and dismissal of 172 manufacturing workers on Tuesday.
