FTA fallout

In the above photo, citizens and students participating in a candlelight vigil demonstration against the South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) at Seoul Plaza, attempt to march down street while withstanding being targeted by police water cannons, Nov. 23.

In the middle photo, riot police officers spray citizens with tear gas guns attempting to enter the North Jeolla branch office of ruling Grand National Party (GNP), responsible for railroading the KORUS FTA through the National Assembly.

In the photo below, lawmakers from main opposition Democratic Party including Chairman Sohn Hak-kyu drop to their knees and apologize to the people for failing to block the GNP’s railroading of KORUS FTA ratification.

Around 10,000 individuals took part in the candlelight vigil demonstration calling for nullification of the KORUS FTA and resignation of the Lee Myung-bak government.
