In mid-October, close to 10 bicycles were parked in front of Gangbyeon Station of Subway Line 2 in Seoul’s Gwangjin District. They had a tag that read, “Gwangjin District public bicycle,”
Several posters on the wall were promoting the opening of a bicycle path along with South Han River. Those bicycles, however, disappeared just after a couple of days.
The public bicycles seemed to be hurriedly and temporarily prepared for Lee Myung-bak government’s promotion of a 1,692 kilometer-long bicycle path that was completed as a part of the controversial Four Major Rivers Restoration Project.
