Chung Bong-joo, former Democratic Party lawmaker and co-host of popular podcast show “Naneun Ggomsuda, I Am a Sneak,” smiles and shows his thumb up to his supporters as he presents himself to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, Dec. 26.

“The battle to discover the truth behind President Lee Myung-bak’s financial scam has just begun,” said Chung, with a lei of rose on his neck and a kiss mark on his cheek. “They are trying to put a gag in my mouth, but the truth will win in the end.”

Chung was imprisoned at the Seoul Detention Center since he was sentenced with a one-year jail term by the Supreme Court. The court upheld a lower court’s conviction on Chung of spreading false rumors during the 2007 presidential election campaign that Lee was involved in a stock manipulation scam at the asset management firm BBK.

About 500 supporters and 50 fellow lawmakers cheered him in front of the prosecutors’ office.
