The Gyeongju World Culture Expo is set to kick off Oct. 11 and last until Nov. 24. The main theme of the expo is “Silla in the new millennium,” referring to Gyeongju as the capital of the once mighty Silla Kingdom (57 BC-AD 935) that reached its height in the sixth century. Various exhibits combined a Silla motif with cutting-edge technology, such as a virtual reality experience that takes visitors back a thousand years back in time to experience Silla’s culture.
