After winning the Kia Motors Korea Women's Open in June, South Korean golfer Ryu So-yeon pledged to donate all of her winnings, amounting to 250 million won (US$208,138), to help curb the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 27, Ryu made good on her promise by announcing that she will be donating 150 million won to the nonprofit Community Chest of Korea and the remaining 100 million won to Mediheal, a foundation that funds charity projects run by churches.
