Handwritten signs filled the sidewalk in front of the Ukrainian Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, on Thursday. Some called for a “no-fly zone” over Ukraine while others lampooned Russian President Vladimir Putin. Between signs, one could see yellow daffodils memorializing the lives lost in the ongoing conflict.

Nearby, a tent was set up to provide help and information to those fleeing the war.

As the Russian military continues its bombardment of the eastern European country, some are calling for a “no-fly zone” to be implemented in Ukrainian airspace. But US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Thursday that implementing such a zone would signify US combat with Russia, something that the US doesn’t want.

We’ve gathered photos from outside of the embassy in Warsaw.
