South Korea on Friday started a comprehensive online information service that is expected to facilitate inbound investments and enhance living conditions for foreign nationals.

The Internet "government for foreigners" portal site (www.g4f.go.kr) aims to provide information on South Korea's immigration policies, employment opportunities and investment prospects. Other information it will provide includes visa rules, finding prospective business partners and reporting labor-related problems.

There is also a link that can help foreign entrepreneurs receive expert advice on managerial matters.

The site, which will be run jointly by the ministries of commerce and industry, labor and justice, combines existing online services cited as being inconvenient to use.

"The new site will reduce the need for foreigners to visit government offices to take care of routine paperwork that can be handled online," said Kim Pil-goo, the head of the investment policy division at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.
