Bae Soo-yong, 71, (far right) a survivor of the Nogeun Village massacre, explains his experience to visitors from Daejeon, just outside of Nogeun Bridge. The village was the site of a massacre by US troops of Korean civilians during the Korean War in July 1950. Lee explained how along with his parents and siblings he fled for safety under the bridge, but his younger sister died from gunshot wounds. Bullet holes are marked in white on the side of the tunnel.
