The Korean committee for the 2015 Women Cross DMZ hold a press conference at the Franciscan Education Center in Seoul, Apr. 23, where they said they will walk they DMZ with a message of peace even if they do not receive a guarantee from the governments of South and North Korea. North Korea has approved the crossing and the holding of a symposium in Pyongyang and South Korea last week provided the necessary documents.
The women will cross the DMZ from Panmungak on the North side, over to Imjingak on the south side, after traveling via Beijing and Pyongyang. Gloria Steinem is an honorary co-chair of the committee, as well as Nobel peace laureates Mairead Maguire of Northern Ireland and Leymah Gbowee of Liberia.
