Lee Heuk-san (34, born Abdoulaye Assan), a refugee from Cameroon, won the Korean Welterweight (69.85kg) Title in a decision bout in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, on May 27. He won a decision over Lee Kyu-won. Assan came to South Korea in 2015 as part of the Cameroonian delegation to the Military World Games, then applied for asylum. His first application for asylum was rejected, and his second application is pending. He fears he will face a prison sentence of five years if he returns to Cameroon. He hopes his championship will improve his chances of winning asylum in South Korea. (provided by Boxing Management Korea)
