An exhibition created by a Japan-Korean photographer named Ahn Se-hong will be on display in the Kagurazaka neighborhood in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo until Oct. 9. Entitled, “Layer by Layer,” the project has been ongoing for more than 20 years, beginning in 1996 when Ahn visited the “House of Sharing” in Seoul, and contains photos of women from all over Asia. He first took pictures of Korean comfort women who were living in China, and in the past year, has photographed women from the Philippines, Indonesia, and East Timor. “I want to let people know that the comfort women issue is not just a Korea-Japan problem, but one that affects all of Asia,” he said in an interview with the Hankyoreh on Sept. 30.
