The South Korean Navy announced on Nov. 6 that naval vessels had engaged in joint training exercises with the US and Australian navies off the coast of Jeju Island. The navy said that the training, which is scheduled to last for two days, “is a drill to block the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction through the sea, and improve the ability to carry out combined operations to implement UN Security Council resolutions.” Taking part in the training were the South Korean destroyer King Sejong, the US Aegis class destroyer Chafee, and two Australian escort ships, the Melbourne and the Parramatta.
