During a state visit to France, South Korean President Moon Jae-in emphasized the urgency of practical measures to ease UN sanctions on North Korea to French President Emmanuel Macron on Oct. 15. The two leaders held a summit this day at the Elysee Palace in Paris. Moon asked Macron, the president of a key EU nation, to help garner the support of the European community in the effort to achieve permanent peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.
