During a tour of Central Asia, South Korean President Moon Jae-in presided over a repatriation ceremony for Korean independence fighters whose remains were buried in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on Apr. 22. The remains are set to be returned to Korean soil today. It was the first instance of a South Korean president presiding over a repatriation ceremony for Korean independence fighters on foreign soil. The remains were of Kye Bong-woo and Hwang Woon-jung. Kye was a lawmaker in the Korean Provisional Government while Hwang fought against Japanese soldiers in Russia. (Yonhap News)
