A coalition of South Korean and Japanese attorneys have signed a joint statement calling the forced labor issue a human rights issue. Holding a press conference in Tokyo on Nov. 20, Japanese attorneys said that the forced labor issue was being treated only as a “political and diplomatic issue,” when it is “in fact a human rights issue.” South Korean attorneys made the same announcement in Seoul on the same day.
