North Korea has temporarily closed its borders to foreign tourists, particularly those from China, amid a coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China. The ban began officially on Jan. 22, at which several Chinese travel agencies had to cancel any tours booked for North Korea. The North Korean government has announced that it is working with the World Health Organization (WHO) to help prevent the virus from spreading within its borders. Kang Chol-jin, head of the Ministry of Public Health’s State Hygienic Control Board, said during the Korean Central Television (KCTV) that the ministry was cooperating with WHO to stave off the “new malignant virus.” The photos shows health workers transporting a suspected coronavirus patient to a hospital specializing in infectious diseases in Wuhan, China, on Jan. 20.
