South Korean game companies are stepping up to help victims of the novel coronavirus outbreak. Smilegate, known for hits like “Lost Ark,” donated 10 million yuan (US$1.43 million) Xing Haiming, the newly appointed Chinese ambassador to South Korea, requesting that the money be spent on daily essentials and health supplies for the people of Wuhan, Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak. Smilegate also joined the Korean Red Cross in an effort to provide masks and sanitizer to South Koreans being held in quarantine facilities after being repatriated from Wuhan. Pubg, a company known for its hit “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” donated 3 million yuan (US$430,262) to the Red Cross Society of China. WeMade donated 1 million yuan (US$143,380) to the Hubei Charity Federation.
