Over 150 people protested racism and police brutality at Seoul’s Cheonggye Stream Hanbit Square on June 6. Many were holding placards that read “Black lives matter” to protest the death of George Floyd caused by a white police officer’s use of excessive force. The demonstrators had marched 1.2km from the city’s Myeongdong shopping district to Hanbit Square, marking the first demonstration held to commemorate Floyd held in South Korea.
