Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton claims that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo viewed President Donald Trump’s diplomatic strategy regarding North Korea as having “zero probability” of success. In his memoir “The Room Where It Happened,” Bolton claims Pompeo dismissed Trump’s North Korean diplomacy, and even calls the US-North Korean summit in Singapore a “foolish mistake.” Bolton refers to the Singapore summit as a “diplomatic fandango” that was almost entirely “South Korea’s creation,” adding that it was more related to “[South Korea’s] ‘unification’ agenda than any serious strategy” from North Korea or the US.
