White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, predicted on Sept. 1 that a “breakthrough” would be achieved on the North Korean nuclear issue if Trump succeeds in being reelected on Nov. 3.

In an interview with the Emirati state-run daily The National during a tour of the Middle East, Kushner said the “table has been set” for Trump to make a major breakthrough with North Korea if he wins reelection. The remarks came amid Kushner’s predictions that there would be “a lot more peace with Israel” and normalization of ties with both countries during Trump’s term. He did not offer specifics on how the breakthrough with North Korea would be achieved.

During the same interview, Kushner also used the term “breakthrough” to describe the Abraham Accord, a historic agreement for normalization of ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates that was achieved with US mediation on Aug. 13.

“President Trump has shown in his first three and a half years, he has not gotten into any wars. In fact, he's worked to end wars, reduced tension,” he said.
