South Korea reported 2,025 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), 1,992 of the cases were transmitted domestically, while the remaining 33 were imported from overseas. The country’s cumulative total is now 253,445.

The greater Seoul area accounted for 1,415 of the domestic cases: 662 in Seoul, 630 in Gyeonggi Province and 123 in Incheon. The remaining 577 occurred throughout other parts of the country.

The number of patients in severe or critical condition decreased by 10 to 399. The cumulative death toll increased by seven to 2,292.

The KDCA also reported that 246,806 people received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday, increasing the total number of first dose receivers to 29,279,112. The number of fully vaccinated people — whether by receiving two doses or a single dose vaccine — increased by 529,356 to 15,749,376.
