Members of the Cultural Action Network and Lee Soo-ho, the Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Labor Party, right, hold a demonstration in front of KBS offices located in Seoul’s Yeouido to criticize the dismissal of TV host Kim Je-dong, Oct. 14.

Criticism has been voiced against KBS over the sudden replacement of Kim Je-dong, the MC of a popular KBS2TV weekend primetime program “Star Golden Bell.” Critics say that KBS’s behavior is a form of political retaliation for Kim Je-dong’s remarks about the Ssangyong Motors strike and for serving as an MC for the funeral procession of late President Roh Moo-hyun. In regards to the strike, Kim had said, “Let us not forget Ssangyong or forget the fact that at any time we could all become an underdog.”

The upper part of the signboard says, “Whose monetary compensation is more begrudged? The compensation for Son Seok-hee, the MC of MBC’s 100 Minute Debate, or the wages of President Lee Myung-bak?” The sign refers to how MBC was recently considering firing MC Son Seok-hee, who is also a known progressive.
