Commission says Lee Ha tried to influence election through satirical portrayal of Park Geun-hye

Artist Lee Ha, 44, has been accused of violating the Act on the Election of Public Officials for putting up posters around Busan depicting Park Geun-hye as Snow White.

“Lee produced the posters to affect December‘s presidential election, making a mockery of a particular candidate,” said a source from the National Election Commission in Busan on July 3. “We accused him because it would compromise the fairness of the election.”

“The poster says nothing about voting or not voting for any candidate,” Lee said after being interrogated by police. “If they punish production of art, no more creative art will be produced.”

Lee (whose real name is Lee Byung-ha) posted the satirical poster of Park near Jagalchi Market and the Busan Ilbo building on June 28, but the police removed them all on that morning.
