A laid-off Hanjin worker sheds tears at the press conference to announce the opening of the emergency assembly to solve labor issues at the offices of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions in central Seoul on Feb. 5. The emergency assembly is seeking solutions to five major labor issues including the withdrawal of a lawsuit by Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction against unionists for lost business incurred during a strike. It is also calling for a parliamentary investigation into the layoffs of Ssangyong Motor workers, the regularization of Hyundai Motor irregular workers and Yoosung Enterprises’ union busting and the reinstatement of dismissed civil servant unionists.
