Victims of torture under South Korea’s military dictatorships of the 1970s and 80s gather to share their experiences at the Kim Geun-tae Healing Center in Seoul’s Jungreung neighborhood, which opened on June 25. The organization is located on the first floor at the Holy Family office building. The organization was setup using public donations to honor the memory of Kim Geun-tae, a democracy activist and politician who passed away in 2011, from Parkinson’s disease, believed to have been an effect of the torture he suffered as a result of his activism. The center’s purpose is to provide assistance to victims of torture. (by Shin So-young, staff photographer)
