Park Rae-gun, 55 (right), who was imprisoned pending trial on charges of organizing a memorial demonstration for the sinking of the Sewol ferry, embraces a supporter after his sentence of three years’ imprisonment was commuted to a four-year suspended sentence. Judge Sim Gyu-hong of Seoul Central District Court’s 27th criminal division acknowledged Park’s invocation that special unlawful interference was present in his case and changed the sentence accordingly on Jan. 22.
