The Hankyoreh was selected as the South Korean media outlet that journalists trust the most for the ninth time in a row.

On Aug. 17, the Journalists Association Report, a weekly magazine published by the Journalists Association of Korea, said that a poll of 300 journalists had found that 18.3% of those surveyed said that the Hankyoreh was the most trustworthy news organization.

The Hankyoreh has been ranked first each of the nine times this survey had been carried out since 2006. Next were JTBC (16.7%), the Chosun Ilbo (8.3%), and the Kyunghyang Shinmun (6.3%), while 26.7% of respondents said they were not sure.

The most influential news outlet is the Chosun Ilbo, 30% of respondents said. The top-ranking news outlet last year was KBS, which dropped to second place this year, with 20.7% of respondents selecting it. KBS was followed by JTBC (11%), SBS (5.7%), Yonhap News (5%) and the Hankyoreh (2.3%). 15.3% of respondents were undecided.

When asked about the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system, 64.6% of respondents were opposed and 27.7% in favor.

As for the South Korean Constitutional Court’s ruling that the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Prohibition Law (usually referred to as the Kim Young-ran Act) is constitutional, 66% said that it was the right decision, while 26.3% said it was wrong.

The survey was carried out by Hangil Research, a polling organization, between Aug. 5 and Aug. 10 through telephone interviews using questionnaires. It has a reliability of 95% and a margin of error of ±5.5 percentage points.
