A ceremony to mark the departure on a Sewol pilgrimage, from a pier in Incheon to Paengmok Port in Jindo, South Jeolla Province (a distance of 806.16km, over 53 days), May 15. Around 200 people are participating, including Sewol bereaved families, Ven. Jaeseung (leader of the Jogye Order of Buddhism), and members of civic, religious, artistic and cultural groups. Jeong Bu-ja, mother of Shin Ho-sung, a Danwon High School boy who died in the Sewol sinking, said, “The government should make the country healthier and safer for our sons and daughters.” (provided by Incheon Solidarity for Peace and Welfare)

On May 16, 27 more human bones were found in the Sewol’s third level, raising bereaved families‘ expectations that their loved ones’ remains will be identified.
