The day before the one year anniversary of a 19-year-old worker surnamed Kim who died while repairing a sliding glass door at Guui subway station in Seoul, members of a civic group hold a press conference outside of the station, commemorating the anniversary with chrysanthemums, May 25. The group is calling for measures to increase worker and public safety. On May 27, a commemorative cultural event will be held at Exit 1 of Guui Station at 2 pm, titled “We’ll remember you.” Kim was an irregular worker, and after his death the Seoul Metropolitan Government pledges to change the status of his irregular colleagues and improve safety conditions, but have no followed through.
