Ten North American Aviation T-6 Texans were purchased from Canada in 1950 at a cost of 350 million won in donations. One of the ten is exhibited at the Korea Air Force Academy. The planes have no weaponry, so the second pilots would drop bombs manually. At the time, the South Korean Air Force had no planes, so then-President Rhee Syngman asked the public for donations.
