With winter temperatures colder than those even in Moscow, outdoor skating rinks have begun to open across Seoul and its environs. The skating rink at Seoul Plaza in front of the Seoul City Hall, which was closed last year due to the ongoing candlelight demonstrations against former president Park Geun-hye, will open on Dec. 25 and remain in operation until Feb. 25. The skating rink first opened in 2004 and is over 5000 square meters in area. The rink is open from Monday-Thursday from 10am-9:30pm, and from 10am-11pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
