Hundreds of people came together in Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul for the 34th Korean Women’s Conference, led by the Korean Women’s Associations United on Mar. 4. The conference took place four days ahead of International Women’s Day, and featured a number of speakers who voiced support for the #MeToo movement in South Korea, which began slightly over a month ago. During that time, leading figures across a number of sectors – including government, film, theatre, academic, and religious – have been accused of inappropriate sexual behavior.

In a congratulatory message honoring the March 8 ceremony, President Moon Jae-in reiterated his support for the movement’s goals, and he pledged to work toward eliminating sexual misconduct and discrimination in the workplace. (by Kim Seong-gwang, staff photographer)
